Château de Peyrolles
The Domaine de Peyrolles, 5.5 ha. of private grounds with garden and forest, is situated very private, but at close distance of Apt (1km), a lively Provencal city, which dates back to the Roman times and has the reputation of having the best market in the Provence.
The origin of château de Peyrolles goes back to the Roman times. According to the historians the Castle is built on the remains of one of the 12 Roman villas, "Villa Peyrolis", which used to exist around Apt.
The current castle is built at the end of the 16th and appears on the famous maps of Cassini.
Several noble families have lived in the castle over the last centuries (Saint Pons, Astruc, Sollier, de Simony, Carcasonne,...).
